Savings account and goals

Track your savings account in AI Budgie. Goals are shares of it. Money you put in comes off this month’s left to spend; money you take out goes back only if you choose.

One account, goals inside it

The Savings card is your savings account. Start with what was already saved (What was already saved): it counts in the balance and isn’t taken off any month. Goals, like a trip or an emergency fund, are shares of the account; Free to use is what no goal holds.

Putting money in and taking it out

  1. 1

Put in: it comes off this month’s left to spend. If the money didn’t come from this month’s income (older savings, say), turn off From this month’s income and the month is left alone.

  2. 2

Take out: by default it doesn’t add to this month, so a withdrawal doesn’t look like the month suddenly has more to spend.

  3. 3

Turn on Add to this month’s left to spend when the money pays for spending you record this month.

Interest adds to the balance and leaves the budget alone. Give and Hand back move money between goals and the free part without changing the balance.

Save every month

Every month puts the same amount in on the same day each month and sets it aside in the budget before it happens. Pause or stop it any time.

Goals

Give a goal a name, a target and a deadline, and AI Budgie shows how far along you are and how much a month it needs.
