Glossary

What the words in AI Budgie mean.

Left to spend
This month’s income less what has gone out: spending, savings you put in, and any household contribution. Money taken out of savings adds to it only when you choose.
Left to budget
Income less what you’ve planned: the part of your income that doesn’t have a job yet.
Fixed income
Income you can count on each month, such as a salary, set on the Budget page.
Other income
Income transactions you record, added to the month on their own.
Planned and actual
What you mean to spend on a category, and what your transactions say you did.
Recurring
A transaction that repeats on a schedule and is added on its own, such as rent. On the budget, a line whose plan follows those transactions.
Auto-added
A category added to this month because you spent in it with nothing planned.
Left out of the budget
Categories whose spending doesn’t count toward any budget total.
Free to use
The part of your savings account that isn’t in any goal.
Runway
How many months the money you could live on would last at your current net spending.
Shared and private
In a household, shared categories, transactions and goals belong to everyone; each person’s own budget is private unless they give one adult access.
Contribution
What an adult says they put into the household this month. Only that amount is shared.
