Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people ask most. Each question links to a guide with the details.
Account and sign-in
Do I need a password?
No. You sign in with a link we email you; it works once, for 24 hours. You can add a password in Account if you’d like one too, or sign in with Google.
Can I use AI Budgie on my phone and my computer?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser, and everything stays in step across devices. On an iPhone, add it to your home screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) to open it like an app and get push notifications.
Which currency does it use?
Your country’s, which you choose in Account. Changing the country changes the symbol only; amounts aren’t converted.
The assistant
Does AI Budgie connect to my bank?
No, never. You record spending by typing a sentence, scanning a receipt, adding it by hand, or importing a CSV file exported from your bank.
What if the assistant gets something wrong?
Nothing is saved until you confirm the card, so you can change it first. After saving, tell the assistant what to fix, or edit the transaction on the Transactions page.
Can I talk to it in Chinese?
Yes. The assistant understands English and Chinese, and the whole app can be switched between them.
Budgets
What’s the difference between “left to spend” and “left to budget”?
Left to spend is your income less what has gone out this month (spending, savings you put in, and any household contribution). Left to budget is your income less what you’ve planned: the part that doesn’t have a job yet.
Why didn’t taking money out of savings add to my left to spend?
A withdrawal only adds to the month when you turn on “Add to this month’s left to spend” in the dialog. Turn it on when the money pays for spending you record this month.
My income looks doubled. Why?
Your salary is probably both your fixed income and a recurring income transaction. Set fixed income to 0 for that month, and the budget page will stop warning you.
Family
Can my partner see everything I spend?
No. In a household your own budget is private by default; others see your allowance total and the contribution you declare. You can choose to give one other adult full access.
Do my children need their own accounts?
Not children: they get a profile and use Child Mode on their own device with a PIN. Teens can have their own account, supervised or private.
Your data
Do you sell my data?
Never, and your financial data isn’t used for advertising. See the privacy policy for everything we collect and why.
How do I delete my account?
In Account, under Your data, choose Delete account. Your account and everything in it are deleted right away, and it can’t be undone.
